Study From the Epistle to Titus ,1
Today we start studying this pastoral letter written by the apostle Paul to the young Titus, preparing him for his difficult task as a pastor of a difficult church in Create. He first advises him to appoint elders of proven spiritual character to oversee the work of the church.
Paul extends his advice to Titus to include other members of the congregation. All has duty to show practical working out of salvation in their daily lives. Titus has to rebuke sharply those who are unruly that they may be sound in faith.
However for the struggling believers, Titus needs to deal with them in grace. Now and again Paul stresses on the Cross . “Our Saviour Jesus Christ died on the Cross to redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself own special people, zealous for good work” (2:14).
To note, Titus is also the name of the Roman general Titus who destroyed Jerusalem in A.D 70.Later he succeeded his father Vespasian as emperor.
