                              Study From the Book of Malachi,3

     Today is the third part of the series, “Study From the Book of Malachi.” As usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles that can be applied in biblical counselling.

     As mentioned in part one, the book of Malachi talks about Jewish people after they settled down, when they returned back from the exile in Babylon. It is expected they would learn the lesson and turn away from their sins to worship God in a pure heart.  Unfortunately that did happen, they returned to their usual sinful lives and might be worse. They worshiped God in a superficial way. However God still loved them and He kept His promises for them.

     In chapter two of this rich book of the Bible, Malachi talks about the sins of the priests from verse one to nine. Then he talks about the Infidelity of the Israelites from verse 10 to the end of the chapter.

Principle 3, verse 2:5: “My covenant was with him, one of life and peace....”

Lesson 3: God’s commandments and promises and warnings are all for our benefit, to bless us with life and peace. When we turn away from His Word, we turn away from both life and peace. 

Principle 4, verse 2:16: “For the Lord God of Israel hates divorce..”

Lesson 4 : From time to time the Lord talks about marriage as covenant between a man and a woman. God sees marriage as He sees it as the unity between Christ (the head) and the church(the body). What God gathers, no man separates. Here in the OT when the divorce was allowed because of the stubborn mind of the Israelites, God still hates it. Here the marriage  mirrors the love (of God) , the grace (of Christ) and the Joy (of the Holy Spirit) . The three persons of the Godhead enjoy within the Trinity.
