Study From the Epistle of Paul to Titus,3
Today we continue in studying this epistle where we study chapter 2 ad as usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.
In this chapter, Paul extends his advice to Titus to include everyone in the congregation: old men and women, wives and husbands, young people and also the slaves at that time. He then instructs Titus himself to keep himself as a model in characters and behaviour.
Structure:
Verse 1-10: qualities of a sound church.
Verse 11-15: trained by saving grace.
Principle 5: 2:11,12: “-for the grace of God...has appeared ...,teaching us that, denying ungodliness, and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly.’’
Lesson 5: Just as we laid hold of salvation by grace through faith, so we lay hold of sanctification by grace through faith. By the power of grace, we daily crucify our flesh in order to live for God.
Principle 6: 2:13,14: “ – our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ ..gave Himself for us , that He might ...purify for Himself His own special people , zealous for good works.”
Lesson 6: The object of Christianity is not to sin less, but to glorify God more. It is not to somehow stop ourselves from doing the bad things we really want to do , but to find ourselves craving to do what pleases God. 1/3/2020.
