Study From the Book of Zechariah, 11
Today is the part eleven of the series “Study From the Book of Zechariah.” As usual we look at a couple of biblical principles that can be applied in biblical counselling.
The Eleventh Chapter talks about the two shepherds: The Good Shepherd and the bad shepherd. Unfortunately the Israelites chose the bad one and left the Good Shepherd, the Lord Jesus. So they suffered the consequences.
To obey the Good Shepherd, we need to be fully committed to Him and obey His commands to enjoy His blessings and protection.
Principle 21, 11:13- “ –And the Lord said to me , “throw it to the potter” – that princely price they set on me.”
Lesson 21: this verse is a prophecy of Judas Iscariot who sold His master with thirty pieces of silver. We see that clearly in Mathew 27:3-10. Judas Iscariot betrayed His master, the Lord Jesus and all Israelites did the same. How many of us have betrayed Him for less by choosing trinkets over Him?
Principle 22, 11:17: “Woe to the worthless shepherd, who leaves the flock! A sword shall be against his arm-“
Lesson 22: In this chapter there is warning for those who follow the bad shepherd. However, there are double warnings for the bad shepherds. “Woe” for these bad shepherds themselves, in our time the false prophets and false teachers.
