Study From the Book of Zechariah, 7
Today is the seventh part of this series, where we study the biblical principles and lessons in chapter 7 of this rich book of the Bible.
Chapter 7 deals with two topics, the first topic (verse 1-7) deals with fasting. Obedience is better than fasting. The second passage from verse 8 to the end of the chapter, verse 14, deals with the result of disobedience, in the case of Judah the southern kingdom, it led to exile and captivity for seventy years.
Principle 11 (verse 7:5): “When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh months during those seventy years, did you really fast for Me- for Me?”
Lesson 11: God is not interested in religious observance or scared rituals apart from a genuine, heart –felt, intimate relationship with Him. Our intimacy with God determines the impact of our lives.
Principle 12 (verse 7:9): “Thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘Execute true justice, show mercy and compassion everyone to his brother.’ ”
Lesson 12: Genuine and dynamic relationship with God leads naturally to genuine and dynamic relationships with others, in which you seek their best and treat them as you would like to be treated.
