                                    Study From the Book of Zechariah, 12

     Today we study chapter 12 of this rich book of the Bible. As usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles that can be applied in biblical counselling.

     Chapter 12 is a prophetic chapter. It talks about the end of the age. The remnants of Judah and Israel will repent of their great sin which was the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus. As the result, there will be the coming deliverance from verse 1 to 9. 

    In this context the prophet Zechariah   talks about the mourning  for the pierced One (the physical appearnce of the Lord Jesus) from verse 10 till the end of this chapter.

Principle 23 , verse 12:1 : “- Thus says the Lord, who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth and forms the spirit of man within....”

Lesson 23 : In biblical counselling, the counsellor  should remind the counselee of the mighty God who is in his or her side while they are facing the problems of living. The same God who designed and created the vast universe around us, who devised and fashioned the earth we live on, also moulded and shaped our very spirit. He knows us inside out and wants us to know Him.

Principle 24, verse 12:10 :  “ And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem  the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced—“

Lesson 24: (At the rupture of the Church, the believers who died will be raised in glorified bodies  and meet the Lord in the clouds, but for those believers who are still alive will join in glorified bodies also as in Thess. 4:13-18 ). However here the prophet talks about the remnants of Judah and Israel, that the day will come when the resurrected Jesus will return again (physically) to this earth to bring God’s covenant with Himself (Rom 11:25-32).
