Study From the First Epistle of Paul to Timothy, 4
Today we continue in studying this pastoral epistle of Paul to Timothy, where we study chapter three and as usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.
In this third chapter, the apostle Paul lists the qualifications of both bishops and deacons. He then highlights the greatest mystery of all that God manifested himself in flesh in the Lord Jesus Christ.
The structure:
Verse 1to 7: qualifications of bishops
Verse 8 to 13: qualifications of deacons
Verse 14 to 16: the greatest mystery
Principle 5: verse 3:5: “ ...for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?”
Lesson: 5: Before God gives us greater responsibility in a larger sphere of influence, He requires us to demonstrate our faithfulness with a lesser responsibility in a smaller sphere of influence.
Principle 6: verse 3:10: “..But let these also first be tested; then let them serve as deacons, being found blameless.”
Lesson 5: those who want to be deacons should be given a smaller task and if they do well and inspire others, they are probably ready for something bigger.15/12/2019
