Study From the First Epistle of Paul to Timothy,7

Study From the First Epistle of Paul to Timothy,7

In the first Sunday for the new year, we continue in the first epistle of Paul to Timothy as we conclude this series by studying the last chapter 6 and as usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.

In this chapter, Paul continues in advising his disciple Timothy before Paul left the world. For the servants, they  need to honour their masters. For the believers, they need not to be greedy, beause the love of money is a root of all kind of evil. However, for the rich, they need to share and bless others with their money. Above all, Timothy needs to guard and the keep the good confession of faith.

The structure:

Verse 1: 2: Honour masters

Verse 3:10: Error and greed

Verse  11:16: Good confession

Verse 17: 19: Instruction to the rich

Verse 20:21: Guard the faith

Principle 11, 6:9 : “-But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which  drown men in destruction and perdition.”

Lesson 11: The Bible condemns the desire to get rich, not because having money is a sin, but because money makes a terrible master. People who make it their goal to get rich do serve money,- and therefore cannot serve God as the Lord Jesus says in Matt. 6:24.

Principle 12: verse 6:18: “-Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to serve..”

Lesson 12: God blesses us financially not simply so that we can spend His blessings on ourselves, but so that we can use the resources He gives us to help others and to expand His Kingdom.   5/1/2020.
