Study From the First Epistle of Paul to Timothy, 5
While we are approaching those festive events of Christmas and new year, we should not miss the Gospel teaching.
Today is the study in the fourth chapter of First Timothy and as usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.
In this chapter the apostle Paul continues in giving advice to his young disciple before leaving this world .He warns him about the great apostasy as we become nearer to the end of age. He then encourages him to be a good servant of Jesus Christ and to take heed in his ministry.
The structure:
Verse 1 to 5: the great apostasy
Verse 6: 11: a good servant of Jesus Christ
Verse 12: 16: take heed to your ministry
Principle 7, 4:1: “- Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons.”
Lesson 7: false treaching and deceptive doctrines have always plagued the church, but the closer we get to the return of Christ, the more prevalent these challenges will become. That is why we must be vigilant and to observe the Word of God in the Scripture.
Principle 8: verse 4:12: “-let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”
Lesson 8: Regardless how old we are or how long we have followed Christ, we can become an excellent example to others by submitting our lives to Christ and learning how to rely upon the power and the leading of the Spirit.22/12/2019
