Study From the First Epistle of Paul to Timothy, 1
Today we study the first Epistle of Paul to Timothy. And as usual we start by introduction.
Here Paul, aged and experienced apostle, writes to his young and inexperienced disciple Timothy who faces a heavy burden of responsibility as a pastor of the church at Ephesus. Paul met Timothy during his second missionary journey and shortly afterwards, Timothy began working with him. Now the young man must deal with several challenges: he must correct false teaching, safeguard public worship and develop mature leadership.
Paul also in his message talks about the conduct of the minister. Timothy must avoid false teachers and greedy motives instead pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness as a man of God.
In this letter also, Paul describes the most magnificent short description of God. He calls God as the King eternal, immortal ad invisible. God alone is wise. And blessed who has the honour to serve Him (NB. Timothy’s name means honouring God or honoured by God).
