        Study From the Book of the Second  Thessalonians,2

We continue today with the second part of this series as we study chapter one of the Second Thessalonians and as usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.

Paul starts chapter one with greeting then he continues to talk about God’s final judgement of the wicked and the glory for the believers. . The Thessalonians continued to suffer persecutions  and Paul continued in encouraging  them to persevere in thier faith.  Their reward in heaven is great in contrast to those who persecuted them, the punishment also will be  great in this earth and in eternity.

The famous verse in this respect is verse 6: since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you. Verse 7: and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels.

The structure of this chapter is as follows:

Verse 1 : 2 : greeting

Verse 3:12 : God’s final judgement and glory.

Principle 1 : 1:9: “These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power.”

Lesson 1: The worst thing about hell is not any physical suffering that may be involved, but the intense loneliness of absolute separation from the Creator, the Giver of life. Those who want no part of God will get their way in hell.

Principle 2: “.. that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him , according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Lesson 2: How is Jesus glorified in us? When we strive to please God and eagerly do His will. Jesus is revealed as Lord and is infinitely worthy of our service – and He gets the glory. 20/10/2019.
