Study From the Book of the Second Thessalonians,1
Today we start with a new epistle of Paul which is the second Thessalonians and as usual we begins with the introduction.
Not long after Paul sent his first letter to the Christians of Thessalonians he wrote again, probably because he heard further disturbing news about them. They were suffering persecution in some way, it seems, and certain persons were still causing trouble by their mistaken ideas on the Second Coming of Christ. Reminding them of the apostolic tradition concerning the Day of the Lord , Paul declares that the Second Coming might not be quite so near as some of them thought. Certain definite signs, he says, will proceed that day.
(Some scholars believe that the rupture of the Church will occur first , then the signs that Paul mentions here will occur during the night of that Day , (i.e. the pre-tribulation of 3.5 years then the great tribulation of 3.5 years), then the day light of 1000 years when the Lord will resign after the judgment of the livings . I prefer this doctorine . So the Lord will return twice not once).
Paul then rebukes those who in their excitement over the Second Coming neglect their ordinary duties and live in idleness. The letter closes with a concluding note in Paul’s own handwriting as a guarantee of genuineness
