                 Study From the Second Peter.2

Today is the second part of this series where we study chapter one. And as usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.

In chapter one, the apostle Peter greets the believers with grace and peace. He then argues them to be more knowledgeable in knowing the truth and grow in faith to bear fruits.  The fruit of godliness, kindness and brotherly kindness love.

The apostle then prophesies of his death. So, he encourages them to stand firmly and to be established in the truth of faith. He gave them as a reminder of these things before his decease.

He ends this chapter to confirm the trustworthy of the porphyritic Word as “for prophecy never came by the will of man, but the holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit” (verse 21).

Structure:

Verses 1-4: greeting the faithful

Verses 5-11: fruitful growth in the faith

Verses 12- 15: Peter’s approaching death

Verses 16-21: the trustworthy prophetic word

Principle 1, verse 1:3: “—His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who calls us ---"

Lesson 1: Everything we need to become more like Christ, God has already given us . We do not need some new experience or fresh revelation to help us draw close to God, we simply have to appropriate what He has already been given.

Principle 2, verse 1:21: “ – prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.”

Lesson 2: although the Bible came to us through redeemed men, and therefore displays many of their traits and unique ways of communicating, , the message is directly from God and relays exactly what He wanted to say through the Holy Spirit.  3/1/2021
