Study From the Book of Second Corinthians,11

Study from the Book of Second Corinthians, 11

Today we study the 10th chapter of this vital epistle of the Scripture as part 11 of the series and as usual we look at a couple of verses that can be applied in biblical counselling.

Before that, we look at the main topics of this chapter which help us as we read through it.

Chapter 10 has three main topics:

  1. From verse 1 to 6: Paul talks about the spiritual warfare. We still live in a redeemed flesh but our battle is merely spiritual.
  2. From verse 7 to 11: the apostle Paul talks about his authority as apostle.
  3. From verse 12 to 18:  although he has authority, this authority is limited as he and all the believers need to be submitted to the authority of the Lord Jesus, who redeemed us.

Principle 19: verse 10:5: “---bringing every thoughts into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”

Lesson 19: Paul talks here in the context of the spiritual warfare. The mind is the battlefield of this war. We need to train our minds to think in honour God. Transformed mind ,to the mind of Christ, leads to peace, joy and victory.

Principle 20: verse 10:18: “—for not he who commends himself is approved, but whom the Lord commends.”

Lesson 20: Self –congratulation is nothing but an expression of the unredeemed flesh. Those who boost want to call attention to themselves, which has no value in the eyes of God. So Paul recalls what Jeremiah(9:24) says. The same  verse that he coded in the previous one of 10:17,  “those who glories , let him glory in the Lord.” 10/2/2019
