Study From the Book of Romans, 8
Today "The day of Pentecost" for the West, we study chapter 7 of the series “Study From the Book of Romans,” the eighth part of this series.
In chapter 7, the apostle Paul talks about three topics:
From the first glance, one might think this chapter is not for the believers, but in fact it is the mere experience of the apostle Paul himself after, he was converted from being an orthodox Jewish to a follower of the Lord.
Principle 13, verse 7:15: “For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what, that I do.”
Lesson 13: All of us relate to the fierce internal struggle that Paul describes. Until we stand in Jesus’ presence, we all experience this battle. The only way to win it is by joyfully tapping into the Spirit’s overcoming power.
Principle 14, verse 7:18: “For I know that in me (that is , in my flesh) nothing good dwells: for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find.”
Lesson 14: We simply do not have the power by ourselves to do what please God. Even the good things we do in our own strength make us prideful and dishonouring to God (Is. 64:6).
