Study From the Book of Romans,7

Study From the Book of Romans, 7

Today is the seventh part of the series, “Study From the Book of Romans,” where we study chapter 6 of this vital book of the Bible.

Chapter six has two main topics:

  1. From verse one to 14: Dead to sin, Alive to God.
  2. From verse 15 to the end of this chapter: From slaves of sin to slaves of God.

As in chapter 5 that started by a crucial verse, chapter 6 is ended by another vital verse:

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Principle 11: “ –How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?”

Lesson 11: Paul cannot imagine why anyone who genuinely loves Christ would want to live for the very sins that cost Jesus life. In other words, the believer had died with Jesus death and resurrected with Christ resurrection. So sin has no dominium on him/her.

Principle 12: “-Like wise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Lesson 12: Paul continues in explaining the above issue. However sin still dwells in our unredeemed bodies or the old man/flesh. One day this mere sin will be eradicated in the glorified bodies in the second coming of the Lord. Until then, we are to draw on the power of the Spirit to put to death the sin that still wants to express itself, and obey God for His glory.
