Study From the Book of Romans,2

Study From the Book of Romans, 2

Today is the second part of this new series where we study chapter one of this vital book of the NT(the Book of Romans).

Chapter one is divided into three sections:

  1. From verse one to verse 7: Greeting
  2. From verse 8 to 15: Desire of the apostle  Paul to visit Rome
  3. From verse 16 to the end of this chapter: The just live by faith.

Principle 1: verse 1:16: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes--"

Lesson 1:  The NT speaks of salvation in the past, the present and the future:

  • In the past(Eph,2:8) the believer has been saved from the penalty of sin (death)
  • In the present( 2 Cor.2:15) the believer is being saved from the power of sin
  • In the future (2 Cor. 13:11) the believer will be saved from the very presence of sin (also in Rev.22:12 and other passages of the NT).

In this context, in verse 17 “From faith to faith” where the believer after been saved by faith and declared righteous by grace, God continues to save him/her from the power of sin to live righteously.

Principle 2: verse 1:26:  “For this reason God gave them up to vile passion. For even their women---likewise the men—“

Lesson 2:  Homosexuality is sin according to Lev.18:22. However the apostle Paul goes further in this issue. Homosexuality does not only deserve punishment because of sin, but also because they reject God and become idolaters to their sinful passion,  they  receive another  penalty of shamfulness because of  their errors.
