Study From the Book of Romans,14
Today we study chapter 13 of this vital book of the Bible and as usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be applied in biblical counselling.
As mentioned before, from chapter 12 till 15, the apostle Paul talks about the Christian values and principles Christian believers should live with in the world to show the characters of the Lord Jesus on earth.
Butting this in mind, chapter 13 has three main topics as follows:
Principle 25:verse 13:1: “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.”
Lessons 25; We learn from the Scripture that Joseph submitted to the Egyptian authorities; Daniel submitted to the Babylonian authorities. Jesus submitted to the Roman authorities. While none of these regimes were godly, God authorized them all.
Principle 26 verse 13:10: “Love does no harm to a neighbour , therefore love is the fulfilment of the law.”
Lesson 26: God is love, and the Law of Moses reflects God’s character, therefore love is the fulfilment of the Law. Obedience is never about slavishly following rules, but always about eagerly pleasing a loving God.
