     Today is the third and final part of the study. In previous part, we studied biblical principles in verses 1 to 16, which talk about the total destruction of the nation of Edom and the reason for that. Here, we study the blessing and Israel’s final triumph over the Edomities. It carries comfort and condolence for those Christians who are currently persecuted, although the book deals with the prophetic vision of what will happen at the end of the age when the Lord Jesus reigns over all.  

Principle 3: verse 17: “But on the Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, and shall be holiness; the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.”

Lesson 3: Mount Zion refers to Jerusalem. The house of Jacob will possess the land of Edomities. This verse talks about the Day of the Lord which will happen after the great tribulation and the judgement of the livings. It carries warning to the wicked today; they finally will be the losers.

Principle 4 : verse 21: “... And the kingdom shall be the Lord’s”

Lesson 4: These are Obadiah’s last words against all human arrogance, pride, and rebellion. Edom thought itself indestructible, but the Lord humbled that nation and restored the fallen Judah. Many people are tempted to consider themselves beyond the reach of God. But God will bring them down, just as He will lift those who humble themselves before Him. And one day, He will establish His just rule overall.
