Study From the Book of Obadiah,2
Today is the second part of the study after the introduction of the first part. This part deals with the first section of the book which it is only of one chapter. Thsi part is from verse 1 to 16, which talks about the total destruction of the nation of Edomites and the reason for that. They caused a lot of trouble to Israelites, so they deserved destruction from God.
Principle 1: verse 3: “The pride of your heart has deceived you...”
Lesson 1: God hates pride, not only because it imagines itself a rival to God, but also because it blinds and deceives. Because it cannot see or accept the truth, it walks off of cliffs and runs into brick walls.
Principle 2 : verse 15: “As you have done, it shall be done to you; your reprisal shall return upon your own head.”
Lesson 2: Repeatedly in Scripture, God says that He will use a man’s own sin against him in judgement. “He made a pit and dug it out.” Said David of the wicked, “and has fallen into the ditch which he made” (Ps.7:15). Sowing and reaping also is a principle in many verses of the NT, for example, as in Galatians 6:7. So we pray that God have mercy upon us and save us from our mistakes that we did in the past, not only forgive us but also save us for the consequences.
