Study From the Book of Micah,3

Study From the Book of Micah,3

In this part 3 of the series, we study chapter two of the book which continues to describe the sins of people of Judah and Israel (the southern kingdom with its capital of Jerusalem and the northern kingdom with Samaria capital). Chapter one deals with the sins of people against the mighty God when they turned to worship pagan gods and performed their rituals which were sexual in nature, so they committed both spiritual and moral adulteries. As they refused to repent, the wrath of God had fallen on them.

Chapter two, which where we study the biblical principle in it in this part, describes the social injustice among the Jewish community, where people committed sins against each other, for example the rich abused the poor. So the judgment of the Lord was justified that eventually had happened many years later after Micah prophesied.

Principle 3: (2:1): “Woe to those who devise iniquity, and work out evil on their beds! At morning light they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand.”

Lesson 3: many lessons are here, first God knows what people are thinking in their mind. In this case the wickedness of the Israelites as they planned evil at bed time, the time when ordinary people sleep in peace. And because they had all the power without social justice, they practiced their evil things in the morning. While they were doing both things (plotting and practicing evil), they were ignoring God as if He did not know and see, what had been going on.

Principle 4: (2:7): “Do not My words do good to him who walks uprightly?”

Lesson 4: from verse 6 to 11, Micah described the sins of false prophets or teachers and wondered why they did not teach the people the right things and why they did not rebuke the sins, people doing.  God desires to bless us, not to punish us, so even the words of rebuke and correction are good for us. In Psalm 141:5 says, “let the righteous ....rebuke me, it shall be as excellent oil, let my head not refuse it.”
