Study From the Book of Lamentations,3

Study From the Book of Lamentations,3

Today is to study chapter three of the Book of Lamentations. We pick up two biblical principles and lessons which are useful in Biblical Counselling.

In several verses, Jeremiah expressed his sadness and despair. For example, he says that he waisted his flesh and life for nothing. The situation was so hopeless that he felt he had died long ago. In one occasion God had forbidden Jeremiah to pray for the deliverance of Judah.

However, Jeremiah (through the Holy Spirit who inspires him) gives a hint of the light of the New Testament gospel in the dark book of Lamentations. The only way that God would be able to plead the case of His people was if He Himself plead for -or redeemed them from -their sinfulness. The request for divine vindication is an expression of a longing for God’s righteousness and the success of His kingdom and His truth.

Structure:

Verses 1-66: Prophet anguish and hope.

Principle 5: verse 3: 22: ----” through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.”

Lesson 5: Do you know the Lord as trustworthy reliable and consistent? Or do you question whether God will be there for you in your hour of need? From cover to cover, the Bible proclaims, “God is there and He cares!” He never abandons us.

Principle 6 verse 3:25:” The Lord is good for those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.”

Lesson 6: Waiting upon God is not passive. We don’t sit with folded hands and smiling faces. Instead, we inquire, we take preliminary steps, we pray, we obtain counsel. We ask, seek, and knock in a prudent fashion.5/1/2025.
