Study From the Book of Lamentations,2
Today is to study chapter two of the Book of Lamentation. We pick up two biblical principles and lessons which are useful in Biblical Counselling.
God’s anger is a firm expression of God’s displeasure with wickedness and sin. Yet God’s anger never shuts us off from His compassion. God’s footstool is
identified with the ark of the covenant. However, God, in His wrath had abandoned His footstool.
Jeremiah had no words to help the grieving women of Jerusalem as they looked helplessly on their dying babies. However, God had promised Moses that He would judge sin. The destruction of Jerusalem was a fulfilment of that promise. Jeremiah used the same language to affirm that God had planned to deal with Babylon as well.
Structure:
Verses 1-22: God’s anger with Jerusalem.
Principle 3: verse 12: 14: ----” Your prophets have seen for you false and deceptive visions; they have not uncovered your iniquity.”
Lesson 3: We can trust God’s Word, not only because it speaks to us of pleasant things like heaven and grace and love, but also because it uncovers and lays bare our sins, so that we may turn from them and live.
Principle 4: verse 2: 17:” The Lord has done what He promised; He has fulfilled His Word which He commanded in the days of old.”
Lesson 4: We never have to wonder whether the Lord will keep His promises. We never have to question whether He will really fulfil His Word in your case or mine. Whatever He says, He will do.29/12/2024.
