Study From the Book of Lamentations,1
Today is to study chapter one of the Book of Lamentation. We pick up two biblical principles and lessons which are useful in Biblical Counselling.
The word “How” is exclamatory word used frequently in laments and funeral songs. It expresses astonishment, sorrow and dismay. Jerusalem’s suffering is portrayed using several metaphors:
The term of God’s wrath is used to refer not only to the time of Jerusalem’s fall in the past, but also to a future day when God would rectify all of the wrong doings that the nations had committed against Israel and God.
Structure:
Verse 1-22: Jerusalem in affliction.
Principle 1: verse 1:8: ----Jerusalem has sinned gravely; therefore, she has become vile.
Lesson 1: sin does not make us cool, hip, fashionable or trendy. It does not make us sophisticated, mature or attractive. It only makes us vile.
Principle 2: verse 1:9: She did not consider her destiny; therefore, her collapse was awesome---.
Lesson 2 Every one of us is rushing along one path or another. How often do we take stock of whether that direction leads to God’s destiny for us?22/12.2024.
