Study From the Book of Jonah,3
In this part of the series, we study a couple of biblical principles in chapter 2. We remmeber that chapter 2 deals with Jonah’s distress in the belly of the fish, his prayer and how God answers Jonah’s prayer.
Principle 3, (2:7): “ I cried out to the Lord because of my affliction, and He answered me.”
Lesson 3: Here is Jonah prayed and cried out to the Lord because of his distress and God answered him. God will never turn away from a truly repentant heart, even when a person tries to run away from Him. The Lord often uses affliction, not punishment to bring us back to Him. Another lesson we learn from the Bible, there are many reasons for pain and suffering. This is one of these reasons which is to bring us back in track, to His will and His call for our lives.
Principle 4, (2:7): “When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the Lord.”
Lesson 4: When we reach the end of our rope and the end of ourselves-when we hit rock bottom-only then are sometimes ready to repent. But God is so loving and gracious. He will even accept that.
