Study From the Book of Jonah,2

Study From the Book of Jonah,2

From the first part, we saw that Jonah disobeyed God and instead of preaching in Nineveh, he took a  boot to Tarshish, far in the West where Spain is now. The wind blew up and the sailors knew it was because of Jonah that the boot is about to sink, so they asked him, what they could do with him and he said just to throw him in the sea to die.

Principle 1, (1:12): “Pick me up and throw me into the sea; then the sea will become calm for you. For I know that this great tempest is because of me.”

Lesson 1: Strange that man, he preferred to die than preaching his enemies.  Jonah knew that his own disobedience had put the ship in peril, and yet he would rather die than return to land and obey God’s command. But God does not give up so easily on us, and He had a fish ready to prove it.

Principle 2, (1:16): “Then the men feared the Lord exceedingly and offered a sacrifice to the Lord and took vows.”

Lesson 2: It is shame when we see the non-Christians become believers, and do better than us. These sailors were worshiping other gods but when they saw what happened to Jonah, they believed the living God and even teach us a lesson of how to worship Him.
