Study From the Book of Jeremiah,6

Study From the Book of Jeremiah,6

Today is the sixth part of this series, where we are studying chapter 6 and as usual, we pick up two biblical principles and their lessons which are useful in biblical counselling.

The siege alarm was sounded to the cities surrounding Jerusalem. Jeremiah called his own tribe of Benjamin in the north to abandon the city for more secure territory in the south as Nebuchadnezzar brought siege forces to the city.

Because their ears were uncircumcised, meaning that their lives were not devoted to the Lord, the citizens of Jerusalem were incapable of keeping the covenant. Furthermore, their rebellion had become so ingrained that the word of God had become a disgrace to them.  The revelation of God’s divine will was no longer a delight to them. So, God brought His judgement.

Structure:

Verses 1-30: impeding destruction from the north,

Principle 11, verse 6:14:   --"They have also healed the hurt of My people slightly, saying, ‘Peace , peace’ when there is no peace.”

Lesson 11:  it was because of the love of God that Jeremiah warned his erring people to repent and turn back to God. There is no genuine peace or safety in open rebellion, and he wanted them safe in God’s arms.

Principle 12, verse 6:15: ----- “Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No! They were not at all ashamed; nor did they know how to blush.”

Lesson 12:  Shame is not a bad thing when it alerts us to our errors and helps to turn us back to God in repentance and confession. But when we start identifying good as evil and evil as good, divine judgement draws near.31/12/2023.
