Study From the Book of Jeremiah,5

Study From the Book of Jeremiah,5

Today is the fifth part of this series, where we are studying chapter 5 and as usual, we pick up two biblical principles and their lessons which are useful in biblical counselling.

Similar to Abraham’s plea that Sodom be saved on account of the few faithful people among its inhabitants, so Jeremiah summoned the people to search the city of Jerusalem for one just and righteous person.

God always looks for truth and faithfulness. When truth was lacking in Judah, God punished the people of Judah through foreign invasion.   Bur rather than responding with remorse and repentance, the people reacted in rebellion.

Structure:

Verses 1-30: the justice of God’s judgement.

Principle 9, verse 5:8:   --"They were like well-fed lusty stallions; every one neighed after his neighbour’s wife.”

Lesson 9: In a culture where rampant immorality, it becomes harder and harder to maintain a God-honouring lifestyle. But it also becomes increasingly important to shine a light into the growing darkness.

Principle 10, verse 5:30,31 verse 4:22: ----- “An astonishing and horrible thing has been commuted in the land: prophets prophesy falsely and the priests’ rule by their own power, and My people love to have it so. But what will you do in the end?”

Lesson 10: We live in an era when many religious authorities try to bless what God has condemned and arrogantly replace divine authority with public opinion. God allows them to continue their activities for a time but by their actions will put them to destruction.24/12.2023.
