Study From the Book of Jeramiah, 46
Today is the 46th part of this series where we study chapter 46 of the book of Jeremiah. Here there is one biblical principle and its lesson which is useful in Biblical Counselling.
The background here is Nebuchadnezzar’s defeat of Pharaoh Necho at Carchemish in 605 B.C. Jeremiah’s proclamations concerning the future Babylonian invasion were no doubt based in part on this battle, which established Nebuchadnezzar as the great imperial monarch of his generation.
The day of the Lord is described here as a day of vengeance in which Egypt is punished for the death of Josiah. So Now Egypt was mortally wounded, stumbled to its death. Babylon is depicted as the instrument of God’s judgment. And the gods and goddesses of Egypt were punished in the defeat of the people who worshipped them. However, after the Babylonians invasion and exile, normal life in Egypt would be restored.
This chapter is ended up with a glimpse of hope that Israel would be preserved.
