Study From the Book of Jeremiah,35

Study From the Book of Jeremiah,35

Today is the thirty-fifth   part of this series where we study chapter 35. Here, there is one biblical principle and its lesson which is useful in biblical counselling.

The Rechabites from Samaria, they refused to drink wine or drink strong drink, obeying the commands of their forefather Jonadab. This is the language of faithfulness when Jeremiah invited them to drink wine, they refused.  Jeremiah often used the negative to refer to Judah’s failure to obey the covenant.

Rechabites had not wavered in keeping the commandment of Jonadab, but the Israelites had continually rebelled against the teaching of God. So, blessing is pronounced over the faithful household of Rechabites. Their complete obedience is outlined in a triad of verbs: obeyed…kept…done.

Structure:

Verses 1-19: the obedient Rechabites

Principle 56:35:6 --” But they said, ‘We will drink no wine, for Jonadab the son of Rechab our father, commanded us saying You shall drink no wine---.’”

Lesson 56:   Obedience has a reward in earth as well as in heaven. God helps us to obey His commands. The Lord Jesus said “If you love Me then obey My commands.” 4/8/2024.
