Study From the Book of Jeremiah,33

Today is the thirty-third   part of this series where we study chapter 33. Here, there are two biblical principles and their lessons which are useful in biblical counselling.

Jeremiah had been placed under palace court because he announced the fall of Jerusalem giving the advice to Zedekiah to surrender to Nebuchadnezzar. Jeremiah urged the people to call out to the Lord, pointing out that this time the Lord would hear and answer their cries. Judah and Jerusalem in their idolatry and rebellion were without peace and health. The Lord promised healing in response to their repentance.  

Forgiveness is described with two terms, cleanse and pardon. The word cleanse describes ritual purification of what physically or spiritually unclean or defiled. Pardon means to forgive and in the Old Testament is used only with God.
 

As the citizens of Moab and Jericho were full of fear and trembling before the nation that had benefited from the Lord’s mighty works, so all would fear and tremble in amazement at God’s new masterwork.  

Structure:

Verses 1-18: excellence of the restored nation.

Verses 19-26: the permanence of God’s covenant.

Principle 53, verse 33:3: --” Call on Me and I will answer you, and show you great mighty things, which you do not know.”

Lesson 53: throughout the Bible, God promises to speak to His children-but we must listen to His voice. To listen actively, we must come before the Lord expectantly. We must eagerly anticipate Him speaking to us.

Principle 54, verse 33:6: ----” Behold I will bring it health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth.”

Lesson 54: For such a dark book, Jeremiah has some blindingly bright spots. God desires to bring us health and healing, not sickness and injury. He wants to shower us with peace and truth, not keep either from us. 21/7/2024.
