Study From the Book of Jeremiah,32

Today is the thirty-second   part of this series where we study chapter 32. Here, there are two biblical principles and their lessons which are useful in biblical counselling.

Jeremiah was imprisoned for his declaration that Jerusalem would fall to the Chaldeans. However, the Lord instructed Jeremiah to purchase a field in his hometown three miles north to Jerusalem. According to custom, one copy of the deed was sealed in an earthen vessel for safe keeping; a second copy was left open for further consultation. The illustrated message of the purchase was assurance and confirmation that restoration of the land was certain. Jeremiah’s action in purchasing the land was a remarkable demonstration of faith in God that the people of Judah would return one day to their land.

The Lord’s faithful love far outweighs His punishing judgement, but the seriousness of sin is not overlooked.  

Structure:

Verses 1-15: Jeremiah Buys a field.

Verses 16-25: Jeremiah prays for understanding.

Verses 26-44: God’s assurance of the people’s return.

Principle 51, verse 32:17: ---” Ah, Lord God! You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You.”

Lesson 51: Jeremiah states rightly that God can do whatever He desires-and yet when it comes to his life, he wonders. How like us! In theory we agree; but in our own lives? Yet nothing is too hard for God.

Principle 52, verse 32:42: ----” For thus says the Lord: ‘Just as I have brought all this great calamity on this people, so I will bring on them all the good that I have promised them.’”

Lesson 52: God keeps of His promises, for judgement and blessing-but He loves to bless His people, not judge them. He will not shrink from judging us, but He would much prefer to bless us.14/7/2024.
