Study From the Book of Jeremiah,12
Today is the twelfth part of this series, where we study chapter 12. Here there is one biblical principle and its lesson which is useful in biblical counselling.
God’s love and concern for His people does not preclude discipline when their sin makes it necessary. Because of sin, the land that that once saw God’s bounteous blessing would experience His devastating judgement because Israel and Judah performed their idolatrous deeds.
There is a glimmer of hope in the middle of a prophecy of judgement. God would remember His covenant with Abraham. Eventually He would return with compassion on His people and the land portions would revert to their original owners.
Structure:
Verses 1-4: Jeremiah’s question
Verses 5-17: the Lord answers
Principle 21: 12:5 --"If you have run with the footmen, and they have wearied you, then how can you contend with horses.”
Lesson 21: God encourages us, but He also challenges us. He speaks soft words to us when we need them, but He speaks harder words to us when we need them. He always gives us exactly what we need.
