Study From the Book of Jeremiah,10

Today is the tenth part of this series, where we are studying chapter 10. Here we pick up two biblical principles and their lessons which is useful in biblical counselling.

The Gentiles were worshiping natural phenomena by mean of handmade icons and symbolic imagery. To practice the constructing deities is utter useless and futile.

The idols were dumb and motionless. They required attendants to care for them and carry them to place to place, unable to do good or evil.

Jermiah then emphasized the creative power of the true and the only God. By God’s power, wisdom and understanding, the heaven and earth were brought into orderly existence. Jeremiah reminded the people of Judah that their God not only created the universe but also governs its ongoing life.

The passage ends with a prayer to God to bring judgement upon those who destroyed Judah. Even though the Gentile nations were not heirs to God’s covenant, they would be judged according to God’s ethical standards.

Structure:

Verses 1-16: Idols and the true God

Verses 17-25: the coming captivity of Judah.

Principle 18, verse 10:7:   --"Who would not fear You, O King of the nations? For this is Your rightful due- -”

Lesson 18: For reasons of His own, God chooses to veil His glory most of the time. If men and women fall prostrate whenever they see an unveiled angel, imagine what they would feel if they saw God!

Principle 19, verse 10:23: ----“O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.”

Lesson 19: God made us to depend on Him, to look for His guidance and direction and counsel.  We commit lives to Him, not merely for salvation, but for what we need and where we go every moment of our life. 28/1/2024.
