Study from the Book of James,6
Today is the sixth and the final part of this series, where we study chapter five and as usual, we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.
In chapter 5, the apostle James warns the riches who oppress the workers. Those who do that will be judged by God. He then encourages us to be patient and persevering as the coming of the Lord is at hand. He reminds us with the perseverance of Job, so his suffering ended with a great reward from the Lord.
He then encourages us to support each other. If anyone is sick, he would calls for the elders of the church to pray for him and anoint him with oil, as the prayer of faith will save the sick and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
Be kind for those who wander from the truth. Let someone turns them back. Who turns a sinner from his error, will save soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.
Structure:
Verses 1:6: rich oppressors will be judged
Verses 7:12: be patient and persevering
Verses 13:18: meeting specific needs
Verses 19:20: bring back the erring one
Principle 9, verse 5:7: “-Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord.”
Lesson 9: We do not know when the Lord will return to reward His faithful people and to set right the world. But we know that He will. His promise gives us hope-but we must remain patient until He fulfils it.
Principle 10 verse 5:11, “-You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord-that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.”
Lesson 10: Job had to go through some very excruciating days, but never once during his trials did the Lord ever leave him. It helps to remember God’s unchanging compassion and mercy when we suffer. 8/11/2020
