Study From the Book of James,4

Study from the Book of James,4

Today is the fourth part of this series, where we study chapter three and as usual, we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.

There are two main ideas in chapter 3 which is how important to control our tongues and the importance of God’s wisdom.

To control our tongues is of great importance, It is a small organ but can control the whole body and the whole relationships. It is like ships turned around by a small rudder and a bit in horse’s mouth   the ridder can turn all the whole horse’s body.

Then James talks about the wisdom from God versus the earthy wisdom. While the heavenly wisdom is pure , peaceful, gentle, full of mercy, and bears good fruits, the earthy wisdom carries with it bitterness ,envy and lie against the truth.

Structure:

Verses 1-12: the importance of our words

Verses 13-18: heavenly versus demonic wisdom

Principle 5 verse 3:2: “-For we all stumble in many things.”

Lesson 5: None of us has become perfect. None of us does everything right . None of us is so wise that always speak the right word or so strong that we always do right thing. To remember this keeps us humble.

Principle 6 verse 3:17”- But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and wisdom hypocrisy.”

Lesson 6: God’s wisdom leads to harmony and peace, while human wisdom leads to arrogance and dissension.  Examining our relationships can tell us what wisdom we pursue! 25/10/2020
