Study from the Book of James,1
Today is the first part of this new series of Bible study where we start with introduction. The epistle of James was written through the Holy Spirit by James. The name Jakobos (James) is the basis for the early title Jakobou Epistle, the Epistle of James. Jakobos is the Greek form of the common Herbrew name of Jacob.
Jacob or James was the Lord Jesus ‘brother. He did not believe in Him and his disbelief remained steadfast throughout Jesus’ earthly life. Only after the Resurrection did James finally realize the truth and became the leader of the Jerusalem church.
The epistle of James talks about the other side of faith. The apostle Paul talks in Romans 10 that faith comes by hearing, the word of God. Here James takes faith without works is dead. Faith should be manifested by good deeds. Faith endues trials, Faith withstands temptations. Faith harbours no prejudice. Faith has power to control the tongue. Faith acts wisely. Faith produces separation from the world. Then faith waits patiently for the second coming of the Lord.
