Study From the Book of Isaiah,61
Today is the final part of this series where we study chapter 66, the last chapter of of the Book of Isaiah. And as usual we pick up a couple of principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.
In this chapter, prophet Isaiah declares that the whole cosmos, the heaven and earth, is the Lord’s sanctuary. For all those things His hand has made. However, His people in Israel worship according to the letter but not the spirit of the Law. Their worship in God’s estimation is as unacceptable as if it consists of abominable pagan practices.
However, God vindicates Zion. Those who fear the Lord, they may feed and be satisfied. They may drink deeply and be delighted with abondance of glory.
Last word: although the Book of Isaiah depicts God’s coming salvation, it closes with strong statement of the judgement of the wicked.
Structure:
Verses 1-4: true worship and false.
Verses 5- 13: the Lord vindicates Zion
Verses 14-24: the reign and indignation of God.
Principle 117, verse 66:2“—But on this one will I look; on him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at My word.”
Lesson 117: the Lord Jesus referred to this verse in the Sermon on the Mountain that blessed those who are the poor in spirit, for there is the kingdom of heaven (Mathew 5:3).
Principle 118: verse 66:22,”- for as the new heavens and the new earth which I will make shall remain before Me, “says the Lord," so shall your descendants and your name remain.”
Lesson 118: God loves us so much that He wants our relationship with Him to continue to grow for all eternity. He will never grow weary of us or toss us away, and there will always be more of Him for us to explore. 17/07/2022.
