Study From the Book of Isaiah,58

Study From the Book of Isaiah,58.

Today is the fifty-eighth part of this series where we study chapter 63.  And as usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.

In this chapter, Isaiah talks about the judgment of the Lord at the end of age when “I (Christ) have trodden the winepress alone.” That is also recorded in Rev.14:17-20. Isaiah at the same time talks about the salvation of God’s people “For the day of vengeance is in My heart, and the year of My redeemed has come”verse 4.

Isaiah then, representing the people, publicly, proclaims God’s saving mercies. God is our Father. It is one of rare verses in the Old Testament, that proclaim God is the Father. He is our father and our Redeemer. At the end of this chapter Isaiah prays the prayer of penitence.

Structure:

Verses 1-6: the Lord in judgement and salvation.

Verses 7-14: God’s mercy remembered.

Verses 15-19: a prayer of penitence.

Principle 111, verse 63:9 “— In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the Angel of His presence saved them.”

Lesson 111: God understands what we are going through. He feels what we feel and none of our anguish escapes His attention, He does not merely feel, however, He also acts to save us and rescue us.

Principle 112: verse 63:14, “-As a beast goes down into the valley, and the Spirit of the Lord causes him to rest, so You lead Your people, to make Yourself a glorious name.”

Lesson 112:  The prophet seems to ask, “If God cares enough to lead wild animals to a safe place of rest, then don’t we think He will care enough to lead  us to a place of prosperity and safety?” 26/6/2022
