Study From the Book of Isaiah,51

Study From the Book of Isaiah,51

Today is the fifty-first part of this series where we study chapter 56.  And as usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.

In chapter 56, the prophet Isaiah talks about those who turned to the land of Israel before rebuilding the temple in 520 B.C. The temple was still in ruines but its rebuilding is foreseen. The restored worshipping community faced the question of who would be admitted to the religious community,

Structure:

Verses: 1-8: salvation for the gentiles.

Verses:9-12: Israel’s irresponsible leaders.

Principle 99, verse 56:2 : “-Keep from defiling the Sabbath.”

Lesson 99: epitomizes righteousness, for the Sabbath was the sign of covenant. Since keeping the Sabbath revealed clear commitment to the Lord, it was closely associated with righteousness.

Principle 100, verse 56: 7“-For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.”

Lesson 100: God is serious about prayer and about His people, from throughout the world, gathering to pray together. Jesus quoted this verse when He drove the merchants and money chargers out of the temple (Mark11:15-17).24/4/2022
