Study From the Book of Isaiah,50
Today is the fiftieth part of this series where we study chapter 55. And as usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.
In chapter 55, the prophet Isaiah concludes the previous chapters with two related invitations:
The promise in sure because God’s grace is unfathomable and His Word will certainly be fulfilled. The invitations ,first addressed by the Lord to the exiles, are now held out to everyone.
Structure:
Verses: 1-13: an invitation to abundant life.
Principle 95, verse 55:2: “-Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in abundance.”
Lesson 95: To obey God is to bless yourself; to disobey Him is to curse yourself. “I have come,” Jesus said, “that they may have life, and they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).
Principle 96, verse 55:6: “-Seek the Lord while He may found, call upon Him while He is near.”
Lesson 96: The Lord invites us to come “boldly” into His presence, any time of day or night, to receive His counsel, confess our sins, make requests, and just enjoy His company.
Principle 97: verse 55:9: “ For as heaven are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”
Lesson 97: Even when we don’t understand what God is up to in our lives-which may happen frequently- He asks us to trust Him. He knows what He is doing, even if we cannot comprehend His methods or timing.
Principle 98: verse 55:11:” ---My Word –shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in thing for which I sent it.”
Lesson 98: God promises to bless His Word, not ours, so we are wise if we honour that Word and represent it as accurately and effectively as we can whenever we get the opportunity to speak on God’s behalf. 17/04/2022
