Study From the Book of Isaiah,45
Today is the forty-fifth part of this series where we study chapter 50. As usual, we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.
This chapter has two sections. The first section (through the prophesy of Isaiah) Lord defends Himself against the claim of unbelieving exiles of the second generation in Babylon that He was unwilling or unable to save them.
In the second section, the title “Lord God” is emphasized in this section. The title means “Master”; the word God represents the divine name (Yahweh). The Lord educated the Servant’s tongue through suffering. The word learned is translated elsewhere as discipline. Unlike unbelieving Israel, the Lord awakens the servant’s ear to hear.
Structure:
Verses 1-11: the Servant, Israel hope.
Principle 85, verse 50:7 “—For the Lord God will help Me; therefore will not be disgraced; therefore I have set My dace like a flint, and I will not be ashamed .”
Lesson 85: If we know and feel certain that God is for us, then we too can set our face like a flint and be steadfast immovable, always abounding in the work of God knowing that “our labour is not in vain.” (1Cor. 15:58).
Principle 86, verse 50:10 “-----Who walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trusts in the name of the Lord and rely upon his God.”
Lesson 86: Dark times come upon us; that is part of life in a fallen world. But we do not have to grope blindly as those without hope. We trust God in the dark, take His hand and go where He leads. (13/3/2022)
