Today is the forty-fourth part of this series where we study chapter 49.  In this chapter, we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.

The prophet Isaiah talks about the coming Servant, the Lord Jesus. The Servant’s complaint that He laboured in vain, points to His rejection and suffering by the nation of Israel. However, the Servant will be vindicated and will be rewarded after His death and resurrection when the great commission of global evangelism is carried on by His apostles and those who succeed them to the end of the earth.

The next section of this chapter, Isaiah mentions two complaints of Zion in verses14,24, followed by the Lord’s reassuring responses to them. The aim of the two sections is to cause Israel and the nations to know that Israel’s Lord is eternal God.   

Structure:

Verses 1-13: the Servant, the light to the gentiles.

Verses 14-26: God will remember Zion.

Principle 83, verse 49:15 “—Can a woman forget the nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely, they may forget, yet I will not forget you.”

Lesson 83: God loves us more than any mother has ever loved her own son or daughter. Everything He does in our lives He does out of love and for love’s sake. He allows even the hard times for our benefits.

Principle 84, verse 49::24-25 “-----Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, --- but says the Lord: even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away and the prey of the terrible will be delivered--.”

Lesson 84: The mighty here is Satan, the devil, who captives many through addiction, fears anxiety, depression extra. However, God is more mighty and powerful who can and will deliver those captives because He loves them. 4/3/2022
