Study From the Book of Isaiah,43

Stud y From the Book of Isaiah,43

Today is the forty-third part of this series where we study chapter 48. For chapter 47 which talks about the defeat and humiliation of Babylon, there are no biblical principles or lessons in this chapter, so we skip this chapter to chapter 48 where we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.

In chapter 48, there are two topics. From verse 1 to 11, Isaiah addresses this passage to all Israel condemns the people for hypocrisy, arrogance, idolatry, and treachery. At the same time , the oracle promises the people salvation for the sake of the Lord’s name.

The second part is  from verse 12 to 22, Isaiah encourages the unrighteous to participate in the Lord’s redemption of the nation from Babylon.

Structure:

Verses 1-11: Israel refined for God’s glory.

Verses 12-22: God’s ancient plan to redeem Israel.

Principle 81, verse 48:9 “—For My name’s sake I will defer My anger, and for My praise I will restrain it from you, so that I do not cut you off.”

Lesson 81: We owe our salvation to the love and grace of God, and not to anything else. God saved us for His name’s sake, not because we deserved it or were somehow worth more than His Son who died for us.

Principle 82, verse 48:17 -----I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way you should go.”

Lesson 82: God may sometimes lead us into tight spots and difficult circumstances, but wherever He guides us, He does it “to do you good in the end.” (Deut. 8:16). 20/2/2022
