Study From the Book of Isaiah,40
Today is the fortieth part of this series where we study chapter 44. And as usual we pick up a couple of biblical principle and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.
This chapter starts by blessings of Israel and again with God’s command of “Fear Not.” Since the Lord is all powerful One, Israel (and we as well) had nothing to fear. A similar command is given in verse 8 and before in 43:5. When God is on ourside, we do not need to fear anything or anyone else.
The next passage talks about that idolatry is foolish. Prophet Isaiah was speaking to the future generation warning them of the foolishness of worshiping idols.
The last section of this chapter, the prophet talks about that Israel is not forgotten. After God wipes away its sins, He will restore Judah with a direct address to Cyrus summoning him to service to bring back the Jewish-people from exile in Babylon.
Structure:
Verses 1-7: God’s blessing on Israel
Verses 6-8: there is no other God
Verses 9-20: idolatry is foolishness
Verse 21-23: Israel is not forgotten
Verses 24-28: Judah will be restored.
Principle 75, verse 44:8 “—Is there a God besides Me? Indeed, is no other Rock; I know no one.”
Lesson 75: Scripture consistently teaches that only one true God exists. All others “so called gods” are actually nothing but demons trying to usurp the worship that belongs to God alone.
Principle 76, verse 44:22 “-I have blotted out. Like a thick cloud, your transgressions and like a cloud , you sins. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.”
Lesson 76: God does not want us to sin. He sent the Spirit so that we would not have to sin. When we do sin, God urges us to return to Him and reminds us that He has already redeemed us.30/1/2022
