Study From the Book of Isaiah,4
Today is the fourth part of this series where we study chapter three. And as usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be applied in biblical counselling.
In chapter three, the prophet Isaiah lists the kind of judgement that would fall on Judah and Jerusalem because of sin. Sin is an insult to God’s goodness and righteousness. On the other hand, God keeps His promises to His faithful believers and He will remember their good deeds.
Structure:
Verses 1-12: judgement on Judah and Jerusalem
Verses 13-26: oppression and luxury condemned.
Principle 5: verse 3:8: “-Judah is fallen, because their tongues and their doings are against the Lord, to provoke the eyes of His glory.”
Lesson 5: Sin is an affront to the glory of God, an insult to His goodness and righteousness. It is especially serious when the believer sins, for God has connected His holy name with the believer, whose conduct reflects on God’s character.
Principle 6: verse 3:10: “Say to the righteous that it shall be well with them, for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.”
Lesson 6: God always rewards faithful and obedient behaviour. Although God would judge Judah for her sin. He wanted to encourage the few righteous believers who remained to continue living for Him, for He would remember their good deeds. 9/5/2021
