Study From the Book of Isaiah,35

Study From the Book of Isaiah,35

Today is the thirty-fifth part of this series where we study chapter 39. And as usual we pick up a  biblical principle and a lesson that can be useful in biblical counselling.

Isaiah records a sinful action of the king Hezekiah. So, after Hezekiah recovered from his illness, he was visited by the son of Babylon’s king. Hezekiah showed him all the treasures of Jerusalem and his wealth. The fact that he did this suggested that he put trust in his might and the armies of the nations like Babylon instead of trusting the Lord.

Isaiah was angry of Hezekiah’s behaviour and warned him that the time would come when the Babylon would take all the treasures that he showed and Jewish people would be taken to exile . Hezekiah reacted passively by saying that it was fine for  him as long as it would be peace in his days.

Structure:

Verses 1-8 : the Babylonian envoys.

Principle 66, verse 39:6 “-Behold, the days are coming when all that is in your house, and what your fathers have accumulated until this day, shall be carried to Babylon--”

Lesson 66: About a century and a half after Isaiah spoke this prophecy, it came true in 586 B.C, when the Babylonian forces of Nebuchadnezzar destroyed Jerusalem.  So, what God speaks always comes true. 19/12/2021
