Today is the thirty first part of this series where we study chapter 35. And as usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.

In this chapter, Isaiah prophesies the future of Zion when the Lord Jesus reigns for 1000 years in the glorious time of the millennium. Although it is a future event, we still as believers, enjoy some of them now and we will see the full picture in heaven.  

For example, in verse one: the Spirit of God will make the earth fruitful again.  The joy will fill the earth at the arrival of God’s salvation. There will be a reversal of judgement. The weak hands will be strengthened in verse 3 and the feeble knees will be firm. The eyes, lame, tongue will be healed.  The highway will be safe.

 Isaiah finishes his prophecy by saying   the people shall obtain joy and gladness and sorrow and sighing shall flee away (verse 10).

Structure:

Verses 1-10: the future glory of Zion.

Principle 58 , verse 35: 2 “-They shall see the glory of the Lord, the excellency of our God."

Lesson 58: Although we can experience some of the glory and excellency of God right now, “ we see in a mirror dimply”(1 Corn. 13:12). One day , however. We will not only see His glory; we will share in it (Rom 8:17).

Principle 59, verse 35:10 “-And the ransomed of the Lord shall return and come to Zion with singing, with everlasting joy on their heads---and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.”

Lesson 59: We look forward to a time when God’s goodness and righteousness will bless every believer in an unmeasurable way and will banish all evil, pain, and grief. Our sorrows now cannot compare to our joy then. 14/11/2021
