Study From the Book of Isaiah,29
Today is the twenty-ninth part of this series where we study chapter 33. And as usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.
This woe differs from the others in that it is addressed to Assyria, not to Judah. By focusing on Assyria’s defeat and Judah’s salvation, the prophecy magnifies Judah’s exalted King. This woe oracle consists of an introduction of the main themes of the oracle; an emphasis on Judah’s need of salvation and the Lord’s provision of that need, and its spiritual impact on sinners; and a conclusion showing the majestic King in His glory when the inhabitant will not say, “ I am sick”; the people who dwell in it (Jerusalem) will be forgiven their iniquity ( verse 24).
Structure:
Verses 1-9: a prayer in deep distress
Verses 10-16: impeding judgement on Zion
Verses 17-24: the land of the majestic King.
Principle 54, verse 33:2 “-Be their arm every morning---”
Lesson 54: When we first get out of bed in the morning, where do our thoughts run? Not everyone does devotions in the morning, but everyone of us can and should begin our day with a grateful acknowledge of God’s presence.
Principle 55, verse 33:22 “- For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; He will save us”
Lesson 55: God is our judge-He will give us what we deserve. He is our Lawgiver-He instructs us how to live. And He is our king-He rules over all. How amazing that He is also our Saviour! 31/10.2021
