Study From the Book of Isaiah,27
Today is the twenty-seventh part of this series where we study chapter 31, where there are a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.
The fifth woe oracle reaffirm the fourth oracle in the previous chapter. It too was addressed to those who replaced faith in the Lord with reliance on Egypt. This oracle consists of a condemnation of dependence on Egypt, with a promise that the Lord will save Mount Zion and destroy Assyrians.
Structure:
Verses 1-3: The folly of not trusting God.
Verses 4-9: God will deliver Jerusalem.
Principle 50, verse 31:1“-Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, and rely on horses…but who do not look to the Holy One of Israel!”
Lesson 50: What is your “Egypt”? What are your “horses”? To what do we turn for help, other than your God? Those other things may seem more “practical” to eyes of the flesh, but only God provides aid that will last.
Principle 51, verse 31:5 “- So will the Lord of hosts defend Jerusalem. Defending, He will preserve it; passing over He will preserve it.”
Lesson 51: The Lord will forgive Jerusalem’s sins and will deliver it from evil which is the same that God is doing for each of us who looks at Him for deliverance.17/10/2021
